At Sgiliau, we pride ourselves on hiring the friendliest and most enthusiastic staff to ensure a fantastic experience for all our visitors. Each team member undergoes thorough DBS checks to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Meet Steffan, or Steff, our passionate leader with a lifelong love for sport. From his days as a primary school teacher to guiding the internationally acclaimed blind athlete Tracey Hinton at the Athens, Beijing, and London Paralympic Games, Steff’s experience is truly impressive.
Steff founded Sgiliau with a vision to enhance physical education in schools and keep kids active through fun holiday clubs. In 2019, he brought this vision to life on a bigger scale with the opening of Sgiliau Play Centre, serving children and families across Carmarthenshire and beyond.
Dionne has been the heart of our Carmarthen centre since 2021. With a first-class honours degree in Sports and PE from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Dionne’s childhood was a whirlwind of sports, and she still plays for her local netball club, Cardigan.
She loves building relationships with the families who visit and enjoys watching them have a blast. Dionne’s favourite activities include sensory and balance bike sessions, which she believes are the best way to connect with our youngest visitors and their families. Her passion for sport is evident in her coaching, netball games, gym sessions, and walks.
Alice has been leading Sgiliau Llandeilo since it opened in 2019. With a background in catering and a former primary school teacher who adored PE, Alice’s love for sports began in her youth. She played football for her local club, Llanybydder, and competed in the Welsh Premiership with Aberystwyth Town Ladies.
Alice finds joy in connecting with families and watching them have fun. She’s particularly fond of sensory and Sgiliau Bach sessions, which allow her to bond with the toddlers and their families. Alice’s enthusiasm extends to coaching, netball, running, and walking.
Ffion has been a key part of our Carmarthen team since its opening in 2019. Outside of work, Ffion loves spending time with her dogs and horses, having achieved multiple championships at various shows for her horse productions.
Ffion’s favourite part of the job is organising special events, like afternoon teas and themed breakfasts with superheroes and princesses, to make every visit unforgettable for our guests.
