Steffan Hughes

THE BOSS

Steff has a lifelong involvement and passion for sport. His experience spans from being an experienced primary school teacher to a former guide runner to international blind athlete Tracey Hinton, where he was fortunate to compete with her at the Athens, Beijing and London Paralympic Games.

Steff set up Sgiliau three years ago to raise the standard of physical education in schools, offering holiday clubs to keep children active. He was keen to take the concept
further and in 2019, Steff launched Sgiliau Play Centre to offer more for children and families in Carmarthenshire and beyond.

Dionne Thomas

CARMARTHEN CENTRE MANAGER

Dionne has been managing Sgiliau Play Centre since 2021. Dionne graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2021 with a first class honours degree in Sports and PE. Most of Dionne’s childhood was spent playing sport, and currently plays for her local Netball club Cardigan.

Her favourite part of managing the centre is getting to know the families that visit and watch them have fun. Dionne enjoys the sensory and balance bike sessions which is the best way to get to know the tots and their families. 

Her passion for sport goes from coaching, playing netball, going to the gym to walking. Dionne enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for activities with children who visit Sgiliau.

alice George

LLANDEILO centre manager

Alice has been managing Sgiliau Play Centre since it opened in 2019. With a background in catering, Alice is also a former primary school teacher with PE being her favorite subject. Most of Alice’s childhood was spent playing sport, in particular she played football for her local club Llanybydder and played in the Welsh premiership for Aberystwyth Town Ladies. 

Her favourite part of managing the centre is getting to know the families that visit and watch them have fun. Alice enjoys the sensory and Sgiliau Bach sessions which is the best way to get to know the tots and their families. 

Her passion for sport goes from coaching, playing netball, walking to running. Alice enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for activities with children who visit Sgiliau.

ffion Davies Williams

CARMARTHEN CENTRE Assistant MANAGER

Ffion has been working at Sgiliau Play Centre since it opened in 2019.

Ffion enjoys being outdoors with her dogs and horses in her spare time. She has been successful producing and showing her own horses gaining multiple championships at many shows. Her favourite part of working at Sgiliau is organising events such as afternoon teas and breakfasts with superheroes and princesses.

RECRUITMENT

Sgiliau Play Centre are always on the lookout for fun and hard working individuals who can speak Welsh and English. Being bilingual is super important to us to make sure all children feel comfortable communicating with us.
